On 23 April 2019, the National Service of the Litani River was charged with monitoring violations in the upper and lower basins, updating information on sources of pollution, whether from sewage, industrial, solid waste or agricultural activity, surveying all towns and industrial and non-industrial and health institutions, random gatherings of displaced persons on the banks of the river and refining stations, determining the extent of their impact on water, keeping pace with the legal, judicial and administrative measures taken against the perpetrators of water and environmental crimes, removing infringements of the ownership of the interest and denying irrigation channels and their water installations.

Since the national interest of the Litani River has been charged with keeping pace with efforts to raise pollution and protect environmental and water resources in the Litani River by Act No. 63 of 27 October 2016, which provides for the allocation of funds for the lifting of pollution from the Litani River as the body responsible for the implementation of the governance function in the Litani River Basin, and by Act No. 64 and Act No. 65 of 27 October 2016, which provides for raising the awareness of civil society about the preservation of the Litani River Basin environment,

On the basis of Law No. 77 of 13 April 2018, the Water Law - aimed at regulating, developing, rationalizing and exploiting water resources and protecting them from depletion with a view to ensuring the sustainable management of the natural water resources of the Lebanese State. Laws No. 415 and No. 416 of 5 June 2002, No. 49 and No. 50 of 24/10/2015 required all precautionary measures and actions necessary to protect the dam against pollution and to reduce sediment accumulation in the dam tank and entrust the interest to coordinate with all concerned.

The National Service of the Litani River has worked to determine the boundaries of riverine property and to survey violations of public river property and their ownership subject to the same provisions, thereby supervising and maintaining daily supervision of the lifting of such infringements in accordance with the above-mentioned provisions and following judicial and administrative proceedings with the competent authorities, thereby documenting them and identifying the areas that go beyond them and the nature of the violations.
